Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then located numerous other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the fluid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; investigators are not yet cognizant of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials announced they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A senior political figure commented the incident left him without words and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a gunman targeting people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
