19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player claimed his first trophy for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one match at the big events and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.

The win also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a championship is really nice," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child her name, because the initial championship I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

His retrieving play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had led commentators to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was finished.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

He came back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

The opponent rescued four early break points in a tight final set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
